Renqiu has a long history and widely spread relics. The cultural sites from Neolithic Times, represented by Sangezhuang Yangshao Cultural Relics and Yabazhuang Longshan Cultural Relics, reflect long and splendid history of this city. In Han Dynasty, vassal cities appeared due to the great number of vassal states. During Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, the emperors traveled through Maozhou and set up four temporary magnificent dwelling palaces here, which have been known widely as great historical remains. Renqiu has also been a pace with a number of prominent figures, including the great doctor Bian Que, the knowledgeable scholar Han Ying, and the famous general Zhang He. During Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, great importance was attached to education and moral culture, and a lot of talents appeared in Renqiu. There was a saying at one time that “half of the central government officials in Ming Dynasty came from Renqiu”. In modern times, Renqiu was a sacred place of revolution. The heroic stories about “Yanling Team” and “Three Heroes with a Family Name of Niu” are stilling being told in the neighborhood of Baiyangdian.
